Welcome to Gihan’s Eatery – Where passion for flavour, years of experience, and a warm Irish welcome come together to create a dining experience that keeps people coming back for more.
Led by Sri Lankan-born chef and restaurateur Gihan Kumarasinghe, Gihan’s Eatery has grown to become a trusted name in golf club dining across Munster and now in Co. Louth as well. With eight restaurant locations, including our much-loved home at Castletroy Golf Club, we proudly serve golfers, locals, and visitors alike with a menu full of hearty classics, lighter options, and flavourful dishes inspired by international cuisine.
Gihan brings over 25 years of culinary experience to the table. He began his journey at the prestigious Ceylon Hotel School in Colombo, graduating in 1995 with a degree in Culinary Arts. After completing a competitive management training programme with Jet Wing Hotels, Gihan worked his way up to sous chef at the renowned St Andrews Hotel in Sri Lanka.
In 2003, Gihan brought his talent to Ireland, holding head chef positions at award-winning restaurants and hotels across the country—from Andy’s in Monaghan to Carna Bay Hotel in Connemara, and later at Heffernan’s Fine Foods and the Courthouse Hotel in Ballina. His journey eventually led him to various golf clubs, including Charleville and now, proudly, Castletroy.
Throughout his time in Ireland, Gihan has earned a reputation for exceptional food, attention to detail, and a genuine love for creating memorable meals. That passion is reflected in everything we serve—whether it’s a full Irish breakfast before a morning tee time, a hearty curry after a round, or a fresh, vibrant salad on a sunny afternoon.
Our menu caters to all tastes—offering everything from sandwiches and light bites to full lunch and dinner menus.
We also love being part of the wider community. Gihan’s Eatery caters for all kinds of events including Confirmations, Communions, funerals, birthday celebrations, and more. You don’t need to be a golfer to enjoy our food—locals are always welcome to pop in for lunch or dinner any day of the week.
